The Infamous Break Time Presentations
When I worked for a large Itty Bitty Machine company, I used to teach a lot of classes. In my spare time, I created a presentation file that I used to put up on the projector during breaks and lunch. Since I had to maintain a sense of decorum and I was constantly afraid of offending someone, I had to refrain from anything political, religious or even the least bit risque. The first link below is the one I used during those classes until I retired in 2004. The second link is for one I try to do now and is not constrained by a sense of political correctness.
Almost all the material has been gathered from notes and e-mails sent to me over the years. Some of you may recognize the fact that you sent me the material! In any case, there is sure to be something within these pages that makes you smile. If you make it through the entire collection without a smile, I would suggest you immediately make and appointment with the closest psychiatrist.
For the Old Pre-Retirement version, you can peruse the presentation by clicking on the arrow at the bottom of the screen to advance to the next slide. If you see a small speaker icon on a page, click it once or twice to start a music file. In many cases, the music is apropos the slide. One point for each one you can name! Two points if you see the relevance! Or, you can click on the slide show icon on the bottom of the page. If you use this method, the music should start automatically. To advance to the next slide, click once to end the music, then click again to advance to the next slide.
The first presentation was created with an IBM/Lotus program called Freelance Graphics, but IBM has abandoned that market, so it was converted and prepared for the web using Micro$oft's very expensive Office Suite. Since I retired and I'm on a fixed income, I no longer have access to that overpriced piece of software. But, I found that OpenOffice is free and extremely compatible, so that is what I use now. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to add the sound files and have them work with the web based output. So, sorry, no sound on the Post-Retirement version.
